Clinical Research Assistant I
The NMRL/WHPRC is a state-of-the-science laboratory encompassing 11,600 square feet of space and features state-of-the-science capabilities in exercise physiology, bone adaptation, and morphology (HRpQCT and DEXA), exercise biochemistry, strength, and performance assessments. The mission of the NMRL/WHPR is to mitigate musculoskeletal injuries and optimize human performance by conducting innovative, multi-disciplinary, basic, and applied research providing evidence and translating scientific knowledge, enhancing clinical decisions and education. This research will lead to improved quality of life and resiliency in athletic, military, and active populations. Our vision is to be internationally recognized as a premier academic research center and its faculty as thought leaders in human performance optimization and musculoskeletal injury prevention. Conducts research assessments and procedures. Recruits, screens, and enrolls eligible participants in studies; escorts participants to research scanning sites. Updates databases for registry assessments and clinical trial forms.
The Neuromuscular Research Laboratory (NMRL)/Warrior Human Performance Research Laboratory (WHPRC) in the Department of Sports Medicine and Nutrition in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh is hiring for Research Assistants to help support funded DoD research. The position will entail working across multiple studies and involve focus areas including assessments of health, performance, movement, physiological stress, body composition, and adaptation to physical training. The incumbent will be responsible for performing daily research activities at the Neuromuscular Research Laboratory/Warrior Human Performance Research Center testing including (but not limited to) the following: collecting, processing, analyzing, and archiving of biomechanical, musculoskeletal, and physiological data; instruction of subjects; and administrative operations to include scheduling volunteers and tests. The position will require some travel and occasionally early mornings/late evenings to conduct field research data collection. Candidates should have research experience or a background at the Bachelor's and/or Master’s level with human testing in the areas of physiology, kinesiology, biochemistry, biomechanics, or a similar field.
Moderate physical effort required. May be required to stand/move for several hours at a time. May be required to move objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance of equipment.
